Make the Connection is a VA campaign geared towards encouraging Veterans to seek mental health help when they need it. Make the Connection looks to promote mental health treatment, by sharing a collection of over 800 personal Veteran stories aimed at encouraging others to connect to mental health or addiction recovery solutions. Veterans can listen to stories from someone who has walked in their shoes, learn about ways they found support, and locate resources to connect them to care.
We are looking for Veterans interested in sharing their transition, mental health or addiction recovery stories in an on-camera interview. We know that sharing their personal stories helps encourage other Veterans to take that first step towards reaching out for help. We will be filming in San Francisco July 13 –16th, and I’d appreciate it if you would share this information with your Veteran network. I have attached a flyer that can be shared. Feel free to share on your social platforms. Veterans will go through a short phone interview with myself, and then will be forwarded on to the VA team who will select candidates for filming. Veterans who are filmed will be compensated. We need interested Veterans to contact us as soon as possible to begin the interview process. If Veterans have struggled with substance abuse, we ask that they are at least a year sober.
